Mission Statement
|
The mission of Unchained for Christ is to minister to prisoners,
their families, and ex-prisoners. We network closely with volunteers,
churches and other prison ministries; teaching the “Good News”,
discipling
them to Jesus Christ, and helping supply their transitional needs.

Inmates at Yakima County Jail
Currently there are more than 100 prisoners we correspond with in a six
month period. This helps to continue the discipleship process
(growth in their ongoing faith). We send Bibles to some prisoners
upon request. We provide more than 100 Bibles (including study
Bibles) per month in the jails where we now minister weekly.
The
"Aftercare" or (Transitional Prison Ministry) is where there is the
greatest need at this time. We network with volunteers and
churches to help meet the physical needs of prisoners and their
family members. We partner with churches to begin the process
of transition from prison or jail and re-entry into families, jobs,
churches, and further the process out of prison or jail; and
re-entry into families, jobs, local churches the process of
successful re-integration into local communities again. This effort
requires much prayer, volunteers, and financial resources.
With the
help of many (including ex-prisoners) we have seen the recidivism rate
(rate of prisoners returning to prison, after being released) drop
from 70% to 15-20%.
Thanks
to all of you, we will continue to reach the lost, forgotten,
abandoned, and abused prisoners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Remember, Jesus said:
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty
and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited
me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked
after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
Matthew 25:35-36

Unchained for Christ is a Non Profit Prison ministry.
At this time we minister
primarily in four county jails weekly. We also work with prisoners and their families after their release from prison.
We currently minister in: Regional Justice Center (RJC) in Kent; King County Corrections Facility in Seattle; Pierce County Corrections in Tacoma,
and Kitsap County Jail.
In the RJC at Kent and Yakima County jails, we currently do Christian concerts with two bands: “MERGE” and “J5OM”. These are exciting times of ministry. The Lord has been witness to 100’s of men and women receiving Christ’s Message of the Gospel,
and 100’s more re-committing their lives back to Christ. There are
several more bands that are interested in ministering with us also.
This type of ministry is a great place for new
volunteers. If there is any uncertainty on how to begin, Unchained
for Christ also has a letter writing , pen-pal ministry to many prisoners. This is a non threatening ministry.
Volunteers can see if they like to do this sort of ministry, without a large time commitment.
