Currently there are about 50 prisoners we correspond with in a 6 month period. This helps to continue the discipleship process (growth in their ongoing faith). We send Bibles to some prisoners upon request. We provide sometimes up to 50 Bibles per month in the jails where we now minister weekly.
The "Aftercare" or (Transitional Prison Ministry) is where there is quite possibly greatest need at this time. We network with volunteers and churches to help meet the physical needs of prisoners and their family members. We partner with churches to begin the process of transition from prison or jail and re-entry into families, jobs, churches, and further the process out of prison or jail; and re-entry into families, jobs, local churches the process of successful re-integration into local communities again. This effort requires much prayer, volunteers, and financial resources.
With the help of many (including ex-prisoners) we have seen the recidivism rate(rate of prisoners returning to prison, after being released) drop from 70% to 15-20%.
Thanks to all of you, we will continue to reach the lost, forgotten, abandoned, and abused prisoners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Remember Jesus said: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I ws thirstry and you gave something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Matthew 25:35-36
